The goalkeeper is arguably the most important position on the field; they are the last line of defense and the first line of attack. A goalkeeper can win a game with one brilliant save or become the villain with a mistimed dive. The nature of the position requires agility, speed, athleticism, confidence, bravery and good communication skills.
The art of successful goalkeeping depends on sound basic technique, good decision making and to play the position well requires special skills and training.
